Abuse in fashion

“Would you wear your dog or cat? Unknown to many, majority of fur-trimmed items labelled as ‘faux fur’ is likely real fur.”
Every year, more than 100 million fur-bearing animals are murdered for the fur trade. Being the world’s largest supplier of animal skin, China’s contribution to the fur trade even involves the slaughtering of cats and dogs. Today, the globalization of fur trade makes it impossible to pinpoint where fur products come from. Despite labelled as being ‘Made in Europe’, countless fur products are sourced from unregulated farms worldwide. Unknown to many, the majority of fur-trimmed items labelled as ‘faux fur’ is likely to be real fur; mostly from cats and dogs. In addition to fur, leather, wool, feathers and cosmetics are key drivers of animal cruelty in the fashion industry. The Canadian seal hunt, as well as the wool, down and leather industry massacres millions of animal for the sake of fashion.
FREYJA operates with animal-friendly business practices, products and services. We are in the process of applying for the PETA-Approved Vegan Logo to commit our firm stand against the abuse of animals for fashion.
You've probably also heard of sweatshops. But just in case you haven't, sweatshops are factories that have violated two or more labour laws. In developing countries, an estimated 168 million children between the ages 5 and 14 are forced to work. Also, sweatshop workers are dominantly female. Every day, millions of sweatshop workers worldwide are subjected to verbal and physical abuse, unachievable work targets, exposure to harmful chemicals without protective gear, dangerous working conditions and no job security. Despite being paid way below the minimum wage, workers cling to their jobs just for the hope of supporting their families. Children forgo their education to help put food on the table and thus, the vicious poverty cycle naturally carries forward onto the next generation.
On that note, we seek fair treatment for all workers involved in our business processes. Sourcing only from factories that are ethically responsible and operate strictly according to labour laws, we vouch for fair wages, safe working conditions, humane working hours and job security.
As Rue Mcclanahan puts it,

Well said.
Wishing you ladies a lovely week ahead. x, FREYJA
